My career as a press, radio and television journalist and host began my in 1994 when I joined the
staff of a local weekly newspaper, which led a few months later to move to a bigger, regional weekly
newspaper covering several cities in the most industrial region in Poland. In February, 1995, I
began working in the first television cable in Gliwice on a daily news program. In a few months I was
offered a job as a television host and reporter in one of twelve branches of the biggest television
network in Poland – TVP SA, where I hosted a 30 minute show for children and teenagers twice
each day.
Only a few months at the branch in Katowice, Poland, I was invited to join the cast of the longest
running show for children and teenagers 5-10-15 on the biggest national television network in
Poland; TVP 1. My role was to create, prepare and host my own segment about ecology. After one
year on national television I took the opportunity to co-create a brand new show in a new over-
regional station in Krakow, Poland. After hosting a several episodes, I left my mass media for one
year to finish my last year of technical college.
In January, 1998, I won a contest for news anchor at an over-regional radio station where I was
prepared and presented an hourly ten minutes of news segment.
At age 19 in 1998, I got an offer to become a Public Relations Specialist for a company that
prepared software and public information about approaching Y2K effect.
In August, 1998 I just couldn’t resist the opportunity to move back to Warsaw to TVP 1 where I
worked as television host and reporter for a brand new, 90-minute live show for teenagers on
Polish national television called Rower Blazeja. I produced a large body of film materials, filming
reports and hosting of Rower Blazeja until January, 2000.
In February of 2000, I received an offer from an independent television production company to go
to the United States and spend two weeks in New York City and Washington, DC hosting and
producing filmed reports concerning the democracy, tolerance and other social issues.
After returning to Poland, I received an offer to work in the Promotion Department of the second
largest national commercial radio station in Poland – Radio Zet. In my first month with Radio Zet I
traveled all over Poland with three different A-list artists as they presented a series of 30 concerts.
This job was exhausting due to constant travel. So I accepted an offer to become a publicist of a
new internet portal ahoj.pl, where I wrote many reports on social issues.
On December 1, 2000, I organized, scripted and directed a charity concert celebrating World AIDS
Day in Warsaw, the largest such event in Poland's history.
At the end of February, 2001, I decide to take my chances in Chicago, Illinois (USA) where I live to
this day.
In Chicago as a freelance journalist, I have served as a special correspondent for TVP 1 and the
biggest Polish internet portal covering news about media, television, radio and advertising.
In June, 2004, I created my own 30-minute talk show called Ivo na Zywo (Ivo live) on TVP Chicago
– Polish television – Channel 34 in Chicago, IL. Also I prepared and hosted a 30-minute news show.
I am currently working to develop my career in American broadcasting industry. Also I am working
on a few feature documentary movies, and writing my first book.
On June 1, 2009 my new talk show "Open Cards" has its premiere on TVP Chicago and OpenCards.
